Our Commitments

Social Performance

At Blagus Civil & Mining Services we recognize our responsibility as a local entity towards our stakeholders and the communities within which we operate. We have a firm belief that through our Corporate Social Investment program, we can build customer loyalty based on distinctive ethical values. We have identified two (2) areas we give focus through our CSI Policy

It is expected that in the end, our commitment to uplifting the lives of the privileged members of the community will be met. In all instances we encourage our players to get involved in community projects with the aim of creating a more emphatic workforce that assists in tackling daily challenges faced by the communities we serve.

• Community Development and Support

We support activities related to health and social welfare with a particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS awareness programs that are aligned to government programs. We also participate in medical, primary healthcare and welfare projects.

• Sports

A variety of sporting codes that are at grassroots level are the only programs that we support through development and sponsorship. On several occasions we have assisted with sponsorship. This includes, without limitation, donation of soccer boots and trainers, cash in kind for refreshments and transportation.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Blagus Civil & Mining Services we recognize that we must integrate our business values and operations to meet the expectations of our clients, in relation to customers, employees, regulators, investors, suppliers, the community and the environment.

We will:

• Recognize that our social, economic and environmental responsibilities to our clients are integral to our business.
• Aim to demonstrate our commitment to our responsibilities through our actions and within our corporate policies.
• Take seriously all feedback that we receive from our clients and where possible, maintain open dialogue with them to ensure that we will fulfill the requirements of this policy.

As a way of appreciating the community we operate in, we pledge to sponsor and empower four (4) girl children to study Occupational Health and Safety programme. They will also stand a chance to be employed by Blagus Civil & Mining Services once they complete their studies. We also pledge to develop a group of elderly women to manage 600 layer chickens to supply primary schools with eggs.

The company is responsible for the implementation of this commitment and will make the necessary resources available to realize our corporate responsibilities. However, all employees of Blagus Civil & Mining Services are responsible for our successful performance of this policy.

Environment

Blagus Civil & Mining Services is committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral and fundamental part of our business strategy and operating methods.

It is our priority to encourage customers, business partners, suppliers and all business associates to do the same thing. Not only do we believe this to be commercially responsible practice that makes good business sense, but it is also a matter of delivering duty of care towards future generations.

To ensure that this commitment makes a positive impact, we will:

• Support and comply with the requirements of current environmental legislation and codes of practice.
• Reduce our waste, and then reuse or recycle as much of it as possible
• Minimize energy and water usage in our operations activities in order to conserve supplies, and minimize our consumption of natural resources, especially where they are non-renewable
• Apply the principles of continuous improvement in respect of environmental pollution in all areas where we operate and reduce any impacts from our operations on the environment and local community.
• Ensure that all employees understand our environmental policy and conform to the high standard it requires.
• Update our Environmental Policy annually in consultation with staff, associates and customers.

Safety and Health

Blagus Civil & Mining Services is committed to preventing the accidental loss of any of its resources, including employees and physical assets.

We believe that internal processes may give rise to issues of safety, health and that these issues have a wide industrial and social impact. We will do what is necessary to ensure that our employees and business partners have a thorough knowledge of these issues and have the competency to address them through a positive influence on others to address them at work, on the road, at home and most importantly, at the premises of our e1ient.

In fulfilling this commitment to protect both employees and property, management will provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by applying best practice and in compliance with legislative requirements. We will strive to eliminate foreseeable health and safety hazards which may otherwise result in harm to employees and property.

We recognize that the responsibility for health and safety is shared. All employees will be equally responsible for minimizing incidents within our facilities and in our work areas. Safe work practices and job safety procedures will be clearly defined in the company’s Health and Safety Management Plan for all employees to follow.

We believe that accidental loss can be avoided through good management practices in combination with active employee involvement. We believe that safety is the direct responsibility of all managers, supervisors, employees and contractors who are engaged directly and indirectly by Blagus Civil & Mining Serviees at all our undertakings.
